The Families in Transition program is designed to provide parents and children (between the ages of 8-16) with practical information to cope effectively with problems that result from divorce. What are the effects of divorce on children?
How does Families in Transition differ from other divorce-adjustment programs?
Why is the Families in Transition program required by the court? When parents are able to work cooperatively to meet the needs of their children, it decreases the likelihood that they will return to court to resolve their differences. What is the cost? There is a $100 fee for each parent (payable by money order or cashier's check only-no personal checks or cash will be accepted), with no charge for children. If you are a TANF recipient or on permanent disability, the fee is reduced after verification. When is the class offered? The program is held at Franklin Community Middle School two Saturdays a month from 9:00a.m.-3:00p.m. and every other month on 2 Thursday evenings 6-9pm at the Alva Neal Community Center next to the Franklin Boys & Girls Club. When do I need to attend the program? The class needs to be completed within 60 days from the day it is ordered. Registration fills quickly. What do our clients think? Parents: “It helped me to better communicate with my spouse and children.” “Because both parents have to attend this class, we’ll be on the same page.” Children: “I learned that others are going through the same thing.” “It was nice to just talk to other kids my age that are going through the divorce.” PLEASE READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS CAREFULLY |
