The Jumpstart Program
Jumpstart is a group mentoring program that serves elementary, intermediate, and middle school youth in Morgan and Johnson County. Group sessions are held after school at our office in Franklin Indiana. All groups are focused on helping youth learn valuable life skills while building positive relationships with their peers and Youth Connections mentors.
The Jumpstart program provides a small group environment that focuses on character development, social skills, and having fun! The curriculum we use is an evidence-based curriculum entitled “Overcoming Obstacles’. The after-school program has a deeper focus on proven interactive activities while still incorporating life skill development.
By intertwining life skills curriculum and “hands-on” approaches in programming; youth are able to grasp a better picture of “real world” scenarios in order to become more successful as they get older.
During the school year, youth meet at the office for a 12 or 6-week session twice a week with Youth Connections’ staff. During the summer youth will meet once a week and get a chance to participate in service-learning activities as well as some fun activities.
